Tom Skinner and the Voices of Bishara

London based drummer Tom Skinner is one of the original members of Sons of Kemet and The Smile – this year he brings his own project Voices of Bishara to the festival.

London-based drummer, composer and producer Tom Skinner has been an equally vital and central musician in London’s burgeoning music scene for the past 20 years.
The Swedish and global jazz audience knows him as one of the original members of the award-winning band Sons Of Kemet together with band leader and collaborator Shabaka Hutchings.
Tom Skinner is also one of three in the English rock band The Smile with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. Their debut album “”A Light For Attracting Attention”” released in 2022 has skyrocketed and the band has toured extensively in the UK, Europe and the US.
In 2022, Tom released the first album under his own name, “Voices of Bishara”. A record with a hypnotic sound built on percussion, sax, bass, cello and flute. Music full of movement combined with exceptional harmonic depth and a rich, rich texture.
When Tom Skinner finally brings his inventive and original Voices of Bishara with double tenor sax, cello, bass and drums to Fasching and the Stockholm Jazz Festival, the only thing you can count on is that you won’t have a dull moment. Free and bound in a cohesive smooth forward motion.
