Alfredo Rodriguez, with his classical schooling but unfailing flair for Caribbean music, finally returns to Fasching.
Pianist Alfredo Rodriguez was born into a musical family, studied classical piano at the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán and the Instituto Superior de Arte and toured with his father’s orchestra. While playing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2006, he was discovered by none other than Quincy Jones.
His latest album Coral Way, pays tribute to Rodriguez’s Cuban heritage and is cast in his hometown Miami’s music scene. On Coral Way he mixes timba, salsa, bachata, tango, reggaeton and bolero with Latin jazz in a musical cocktail that wears its influences with pride.
