The Danish pianist Rasmus Sørensen has in recent years gained an international reputation for his innovative and accessible sound both as a musician and composer. After spending five years in New York City and eventually becoming one of the most in-demand jazz pianists there, he moved back to Copenhagen in 2023 and is currently involved in several different projects, most notably his trio under his own name. During his stay in the USA he released the debut album Traits 2022 which was later nominated for a Danish Music Award and he has also performed his music at world famous clubs such as Smalls Jazz Club, The Jazz Gallery, Café Bohemia, 55 Bar and Ornithology Jazz Club and recorded an album featuring Blue Note drummer Kendrick Scott and bassist Alex Claffy, released on April Records on March 15, 2024.
His first and continuous trio playing on the album Traits consists of the charismatic Italian drummer Francesco Ciniglio and the Swedish bass phenomenon Jon Henriksson. During 2023 they toured around Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands and have gained a reputation as one of Europe’s most original piano trios who always stand for a captivating and colorful concert experience. Now they are coming to Fasching for the first time to perform a set consisting of brand new material as well as some selected Traits classics.
