The headstrong fusion guitarist Oz Noy has been an equally appreciated and diligent visitor in Sweden and at jazz club Fasching. The most recent visit to Stockholm came during the Stockholm jazz festival 2019 at Nalen.
Oz Noy mixes jazz, funk, blues and rock in a game that is both heavy bluesy and experimental with intricate phrasing and perfect technique.
“It’s Jazz. It just doesn’t sound like it.” Oz Noy himself describes his trio with bassist Jimmy Haslip from the Yellowjackets and drummer Anton Fig who played with both Joe Bonamassa and Kiss!
Oz Noy was born in Israel and began his professional career at the age of 13. By the age of 16 he was playing with the Israeli musical elite and by 24 he was one of the country’s most established studio guitarists.
Since arriving in New York in 1996, Oz Noy, with his ten solo albums, has been one of the central figures of fusion jazz both locally and internationally. Noy has also played, toured and recorded with Richard Bona, Harry Belafonte, Cyndi Lauper, Dave Weckl, Mike Manieri, John Patitucci, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, The Gil Evans Orchestra, The Allman Brothers, Gart Hudson, Don Henley, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Phil Ramone and Dweezil Zappa to name a few.
Expect the unexpected when Oz Noy opens his fusion salon at Kungsgatan 63.
