Brazilian Favela funk, broken-beat, nu-samba, reggaeton, hip-hop and modern British jazz, everything is seamlessly mixed in the Swiss brothers Georg and Christoph Kiss’ duo Okvsho, who now bring their version of nu-jazz to Kungsgatan 63.
Raised in Zurich with influences from house and electronic music to the modern jazz scene, funk and neo-soul, the brothers began their musical careers in Brazilian percussion groups. With their Hungarian roots, they are also well versed in traditional Balkan music.
With the release of the EP “Traphouse Jazz EP” which moved from classic hip-hop to neo-soul and the full-length “Kamala’s Danz” with more acoustic instruments and collaboration with jazz musicians, a larger audience got to know Okvsho through, among other things, the Spotify list “State of Jazz”.
Now this nu-jazz duo comes to jazz club Fasching with their latest album “A Place Between Us”. A record with scissors, flute, percussion, keyboards and vocals where Brazilian baile funk, broken beats, nu-samba, reggaeton, hip-hop and contemporary British jazz, blend seamlessly. An evening in a relaxed, unforced vibe.
