“It’s always been my dream to record a Christmas album and go on a Christmas tour! Says the legendary soul singer who for more than thirty years was on stage with the Godfather of Soul, James Brown.
Born Martha Harvin in Virginia in 1945, she began singing early in church and then in The Jewels who toured with James Brown for a couple of years in the mid-1960s. When Jewels broke up, Martha asked if she could continue singing with Brown. He said ok! If she changed her last name to High.
Now Martha High has a European band with Italian jazz organist Leonardo Corradi, French drummer Tony Match and Italian guitarist Roy Panebianco as well as a selection of Christmas classics such as Jingle bell rock, The christmas song and Santa Claus goes straight to the ghetto, along with a number of new songs.
