Karin Hammar Fab4 is led by trombonist Karin Hammar and has existed since 2014. The group tours continuously nationally and internationally and has four critically acclaimed releases under its belt and over 10 million streams on Spotify. Karin Hammar Fab4 likes to collaborate with international guests, such as the Norwegian saxophonist Hanna Paulsberg, the Italian pianist Rita Marcotulli, and the group has also recorded music for a string quartet and the French harmonica virtuoso Olivier Ker Ourio.
Now the turn has come for one of European jazz’s new superstars – the Norwegian trumpeter and goat horn player Hildegunn Øiseth to join Fab4’s prominent group of soloists!
Hildegunn Øiseth, based in Trondheim, has the whole world as her field of work and tours extensively with her own quartet, but is also part of popular jazz festival acts such as Marilyn Mazur’s Shamania and Sarah Chaksad Large Ensemble. Øiseth was part of an edition of the Swedish Radiojazz group in April 2024. In the years 1990-1999 she was employed by the Bohuslän Big Band in Gothenburg, and then lived for a time in South Africa before returning to Norway to start her impressive solo career.
Hammar and Øiseth have toured all over the world together, such as Germany, Scandinavia, South Africa, China and Malaysia, and it is high time that Øiseth’s unique trumpet sound and personal playing get to brighten Fab4’s open soundscape.
The music is smoking fresh and the evening is a premiere of this collaboration.
