The legendary Finnish multi-instrumentalist, saxophonist, singer and composer Jimi Tenor brings his band to Kungsgatan 63 for a full evening of jazz, electronic, music and Afrobeat.
Tenor’s music, as well as his design and technical innovations, are born out of experimental rock. His first band Jimi Tenor & His Shamans was influenced by early 80’s industrial rock with instruments made from scrap metal and plastic. Later in the 90s, Tenor first moved towards electronic music, but soon got closer to his roots: 60s and 70s jazz, psychedelic soul and African funk, among others with Tony Allen.
Jimi Tenor was born and raised in Finland as Lassi Lehto in Lahti in 1965, classically trained saxophonist, flutist and pianist. Although Tenor spent the entire 90s in Berlin, New York, London and Barcelona, his artistic direction has always been typically Finnish: technically practical but saturated with dark humor and a national romantic tone.
Now this super talented Finnish musician comes to jazz club Fasching with his band and his sound world inspired by people like Fela Kuti, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Iggy and The Stooges and Sun Ra.
