Hvalfugl

With their dreamy blend of Nordic jazz and folk music, the Danish Aarhus-based trio Hvalfugl has attracted an ever-steadier stream of audiences and reviewers since releasing their internationally acclaimed debut album By in 2017.

Hvalfugl has refined their ethereal and dreamy sound across three more albums – Som En Faldskærm (2019), Öjeblikke Vi Husker (2020), and Strømmer (2023). Their latest album Drømme was released in the winter of 2024 in collaboration with the string ensemble Who Killed Bambi.

Musically, Hvalfugl moves freely across genres, blending ambient and minimalist styles with beautifully crafted melodies. The balance between their warm, acoustic sound and the subtle use of digital effects opens new spaces in the music, creating an expression that is both intimate and majestic.

Jonathan Fjord Bredholt’s elegant piano figures and spherical harmonium sound intertwine with Jeppe Lavsen’s crystalline guitar themes and Anders Juel Bomholt’s swinging contrabass in a way that creates both harmony and subtle details.

Now this tastefull and elegant Danish trio comes to jazz club Fasching.
