Hazmat Modine

Like a head-on collision between a New Orleans bar band, Tom Waits and the Threepenny Opera, New York-based seven-piece band Hazmat Modine mixes Americana, jazz, klezmer, country, blues and world music into its own intercontinental brew.

The band is a musty mix of percussion, sousaphone, saxophone, banjo, clarinet, vocals, guitars, harmonica and violin. Hazmat Modine is led by singer Wade Schumann who also plays harmonica, guitar and the six-string banjo banjitar.

After 25 years of their genre-crossing music, the band is a unique live experience where the latest album Bonfire tells of a “restless America, of discontent, reflection and hope”.

The band played at the Stockholm Jazz Festival on Skeppsholmen in 2009 and now it’s time for another Stockholm visit.
