Pianist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Elijah Fox alternates jazz and dreamy impressionism and has published albums both under his own name and under the alias Søren Søstrom.
The least common denominator of the various projects is Elijah’s interest in dreamy soundscapes — music wide open to interpretation.
Elijah Fox grew up in Durham, North Carolina, began playing the piano at age 11, and was mentored early on by Charlie Parker pianist Yusuf Salim. He studied piano at Oberlin Conservatory and graduated in 2017 before moving to New York. Fox has also recorded and produced for SZA, Masego, YG, Schoolboy Q, Denzel Curry, Tate McCrae, Musiq Soulchild, Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis and J Cole. Elijah Fox also tours as keyboardist with British drummer Yussef Dayes.
Fox’s latest album “City in the Sky” is a collection of instrumental songs that capture the essence of New York and are about different places in the city where he lived or spent time. Don’t miss the opportunity when this master soundscape architect finally comes to Fasching.
