Dominic Miller

Although best known as Sting’s guitarist, Dominic Miller is a highly successful solo artist with twelve albums to his name. He last visited jazz club Fasching in March 2020, just before the pandemic brought the music scene to a halt.

Born in Buenos Aires to an American father and an Irish mother, Miller studied guitar at Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Guildhall School of Music in London.

Since the late 1980s, he has been one of the most sought-after session musicians in the world. His impressive list of collaborations includes work with Phil Collins, The Chieftains, Paul Simon, Eddi Reader, Katie Melua, Bryan Adams, Paul Young, Nigel Kennedy, Peter Gabriel, and Tina Turner, to name just a few.

Dominic Miller has contributed to all of Sting’s albums since The Soul Cages in 1991 and has performed in thousands of concerts with the former Police frontman. He also co-wrote hits like “Shape of My Heart” and “La Belle Dame sans regrets.”

His latest album, Vagabond, was released on ECM in 2023 and recorded at the “La Buissonne” studio in southern France. It features Ziv Ravitz on drums, Nicolas Fiszman on bass, and Jacob Karlzon on piano. The album blends jazz, pop, folk, contemporary classical music, and Latin elements in ECM’s signature style.

Miller now returns to Fasching with the same ensemble featured on the album, except for Jacob Karlzon, who is replaced by Mike Lindup.
