Volcanic energy meets beauty and stillness as Cornelia Nilsson’s Trio takes the stage at Fasching, joined by Blue Note and ECM star Aaron Parks on piano.
The newly formed piano trio is led by award-winning drummer Cornelia Nilsson, who, together with her two favorite musicians, blends original compositions with carefully chosen timeless inspirations. In 2024, the trio released the album “Where Do You Go?”. “It’s a pure pleasure to listen to her playing… An impressive debut album,” wrote Lira in their review.
Cornelia Nilsson is one of the most prominent young drummers on the Nordic jazz scene and has already collaborated with legends like Ron Carter and Kenny Barron. Her playing is as expressive as it is technically brilliant — the perfect foundation for this evening’s musical journey.
Aaron Parks is an innovative star pianist who continues to challenge and inspire musicians and listeners worldwide. Despite his age, he has already worked with Terence Blanchard, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Paul Motian, Joshua Redman, and Ambrose Akinmusire. JazzTimes calls him “a new visionary,” and PopMatters has described his latest project, Aaron Parks Little Big, as “jazz for the new century.”
