Masterful, agile and multiple Grammy-nominated pianist Christian Sands returns to Fasching with his own trio. Already discovered as a twenty-year-old by bassist Christian McBride and later for many years sitting on the piano stool in McBride’s trio, the now 34-year-old American has an extensive CV both as a leader and sideman.
The latest record Christmas Stories contains some of the most popular Christmas classics in Sand’s playful interpretations. Sand’s abundantly flowing technique goes hand in hand with his deeper musical goal: to look at jazz with new eyes.
