Bruno Råberg is a musical alchemist — a bassist and composer who transforms influences from around the world into bold, organic soundscapes. His music feels modern and exciting, and perhaps it’s his role as a professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music that keeps him constantly attuned to the evolution of jazz. There, he maintains close connections with young talents who are helping to push the genre forward.
With his latest album Evolver, Råberg leads a ten-piece ensemble and invites the audience on a journey through harmonic explorations and brilliant solos. His music is ever-changing, inspired by everything from Greek mythology to Indian music and Wayne Shorter’s dreamlike tones. The fact that he also features two of the most exciting names on the New York jazz scene — saxophonist Walter Smith III and pianist Kris Davis — on the album speaks volumes about his stature in the jazz world.
This is jazz that pushes boundaries — bold, dynamic, and deep.
