Dana Masters

Van Morrison’s singer Dana Masters makes her Fasching debut during the Stockholm Jazz Festival.
The South Carolina-born jazz and soul singer comes to Kungsgatan 63 with her trio and the debut album Real Good Mood in her luggage. A record that reflects Dana Master’s salt and honey-rippled jazz-soul-r&b.
Masters grew up in Columbia, South Carolina with musical memories of Marvin Gaye and Earth, Wind and Fire and with a family heavily involved in the civil rights movement.
Masters met a Northern Irishman in Los Angeles, moved to Northern Ireland and was drawn into jazz circles in the Northern Irish capital. For seven years now, she has been a regular member of Van Morrison’s touring band.
All About Jazz writes:
“…a jazz singer of real note…will long be remembered for the exceptional quality of her voice.”
It is only necessary to agree with these and Dana’s own words about the current world situation:
“There is heartbreak and injustice in abundance all around us but there is also good and generosity of spirit, and we must recommit to celebrating the small things, re-learn how to take joy and share that joy freely with ourselves, our people and our collective everyday.”
All this and more can be heard in Dana Master’s music, which the Stockholm jazz festival now has the great honor to present.
