The award-winning Pablo Murgier Quartet feat. Karl Espegard was founded in Buenos Aires in 2017 and is led by Argentinian pianist and composer Pablo Murgier, born in La Plata, Buenos Aires.
The ensemble is based in Paris and mixes jazz, world music and Latin rhythms in its modern sophisticated tango. The Pablo Murgier Ensemble was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the Argentina Grammy Awards 2018 and was awarded the first World Tango Orchestra Award as part of the Tango International Meeting for Musicians at the CCK in Buenos Aires.
Pablo Murgier himself is a pianist on the Astor Piazzolla tribute album Astor 2020 and his latest album «Gare du Sud» from 2022 has received good reviews. The record was followed by sold-out concerts in theaters and jazz clubs around Europe and in Argentina.
Now the 35-year-old Pablo Murgier brings his outstanding ensemble and his acclaimed version of modern tango to Kungsgatan 63. Anyone who is even remotely familiar with the Argentine tango, with the accordion bandoneon or had Astor Piazzolla in their musical life should not miss this opportunity.
This evening, the quartet will be guested by the Norwegian master violinist Karl Espegard.
