According to a united jazz press, Daniel Karlsson is one of our foremost jazz pianists and bandleaders, repeatedly awarded and praised for his music. The trio with Christian Spering and Fredrik Rundkvist has been awarded the Grammy, the Golden Disc, the SR-Jazzkatten and the Jazzkannan. All music is written by Daniel Karlsson and is described as distinct and extroverted, strongly influenced by 60s jazz, soul and pop, but with a clear Nordic touch. The live concerts are often experienced as journeys. Their stage presence and the sparing use of electronics take the audience through worlds and moods. The trio’s latest album Sorry Boss has been praised in the international press and played frequently on European jazz radio.
Karlsson is also a co-founder of the popular jazz group Oddjob. He is active on the international scene mainly with his own trio but also plays with other internationally renowned projects such as the Magnus Öström Group.
