Finnish singer Mirja Mäkelä reunites with Bengt Berger, Jonas Knutsson and Christian Spering 20 years after the fine album Arco Iris.
The musician and composer Bengt Berger has been active on the Swedish music scene since the 60s and co-founded cult bands such as Bitter Funeral Beer Band, Archimedes Badkar and Spjärnsvallet. He has also studied Indian music and started several Swedish/Indian collaborations. Beche has won the P2 Jazzkatten award twice, of which in 2011 was Golden Cat of the Year.
Mirja Mäkelä (born 1968) is a Finnish jazz singer and bandleader. In 1994 she won the jazz voice competition “Lady Summertime” in Finland and she has been voted the best female jazz singer in Finland several times by the Finnish newspaper Jazzrytmit.
Mirja Mäkelä has released five albums as a bandleader with her own music, the latest being “So Far, So Me” (2022) by the Mirja Mäkelä Trio. In addition to her own bands, Mirja Mäkelä has sung as a guest soloist in various small bands, and also big bands such as UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, Espoo Big Band, Estonian Dream Big Band (EST), and Norrbotten Big Band (SWE).
