With her critically acclaimed album, “Moodswinger” from 2019, Vilma Flood became an issue not only for the blues movement where she had to sharpen her elbows. Rather, she had placed herself right in the center of Sweden’s hungriest indie folk talent, which was crowned with a place in the program at the prestigious Sthlm Americana festival that same year.
“Even if we speak a kind of traditionalism, it doesn’t really sound like anything else,” wrote Pierre Hellqvist in Sonic Magazine, which was on the verge of awarding the highest possible rating and took special note of Vilma’s incredibly characteristic voice. This reluctance to define herself was further proven on the singles “End” and “Chest” which were both released in the shadow of the pandemic and she appeared on several artists’ albums such as Blood Music, I’m Kingfisher, The Legends and Marcus Admund Funck.
In 2021 Vilma was seen in TV4’s program “So much better” where she guested on Moonica Mac in an interpretation of Ainbusk’s song Lassie. Her new album Flood came earlier this year.
