Scientist

From early on, Hopeton Brown had a gift for sonic disruption: snares sharp enough to split vampire hearts, basslines heavy enough to steer alien spacecraft. King Tubby famously put it best – “Anyone who can do that must be a Scientist.”

And so he became one. First under Tubby’s wing, then as Channel One’s chief mixologist, Scientist developed a style that was equal parts precision and madness – dub reduced to its rawest, most mind-expanding form.

Scientist isn’t a DJ. He’s a live dub mixer – a rare breed who builds and breaks tracks in real time. Witness him deconstruct reggae staples like Police in Helicopter, Bam Bam or Welcome to Jamrock, turning familiar tunes into echo-drenched soundscapes and rhythm-driven journeys.

Still pushing the limits of what dub can be, Scientist is a true master at the controls.
