Cornelia Nilsson Trio feat. Aaron Parks

Melodic, dynamic, and expansive jazz that lets every note breathe – this is what awaits when bassist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Joe Sanders brings his new project, Parallels, to Fasching.

Sanders, one of his generation’s leading musicians and a trusted collaborator for legends like Roy Hargrove and Charles Lloyd, now steps forward with his own compositions, accompanied by some of the sharpest talents from the New York jazz scene.

Joining him are tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake (Mingus Big Band, Mike Brecker), alto saxophonist Logan Richardson (Jason Moran, Pat Metheny), and drummer Gregory Hutchinson (Ray Brown, Joshua Redman). Together, they form a piano-less quartet that combines technical brilliance with heartfelt expression.

Joe Sanders, who studied under bass greats Christian McBride and John Clayton, describes his approach: “As a bassist, composer, and bandleader, my role changes minute by minute – whether it’s building and maintaining a groove, connecting with the audience, or taking a solo. My wish and goal are for the listener to leave the concert uplifted by the power of the music.”
