Marc Ribot Quartet

During his 40-year career, guitarist Marc Ribot has released 25 albums under his own name and explored everything from Albert Ayler’s pioneering free jazz to klezmer and hardcore, but is perhaps best known as the genius behind Tom Waits’ redefined, gritty and rocking Americana starting with the record Rain Dogs from 1985.

The collaboration with Waits was the starting point for collaboration with other artists in the paws of roots music such as Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello, John Mellencamp, Neko Case, Nora Jones and The Black Keys.

Ribot works regularly with Grammy Award-winning producer and Americana legend T-Bone Burnett and NY composer John Zorn. He has also composed for and played in countless film scores such as “Walk The Line”, “The Kids Are All Right” and “The Departed”.

After many years playing with his Marc Ribot’s Spiritual Unity and later in a trio with drummer Chad Taylor and with legendary bassist Henry Grimes, until they were forced to stop in 2018 due to Grimes’ health status, Ribot and Taylor have searched and now found their new band in the quartet Marc Ribot Quartet “Hurry Red Telephone”.

Together with Taylor, bassist Sebastian Steinberg and guitarist Ava Mendoza, Marc Ribot now comes to Fasching on his short European tour in March 2025.
