Experience the magic of music with saxophonist Fredrik Nordström captivating musical interpretation of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s lyrics. Millay, a pioneering American poet and feminist icon, captured the spirit of the 1920s and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her poignant poetry. Now her lyrics are given new life in Edna Song’s forward-looking jazz that lifts her thoughts and visions. In connection with this concert, the release of the album “Mariposa” (Bluenord Records) is celebrated.
Edna Songs is a unique composition of musicians where Fredrik Nordström brings with him experienced names such as Magnus Broo (Atomic, Fire! Orchestra) and Samuel Hällkvist (Marilyn Mazur, Yazz Ahmed) and the young shooting stars Selma Pinton, Hugo Löf and Nils Agnas. Together, they create a sound world where the messy, swinging is woven together with the beautiful and fragile.
Over the years, Fredrik Nordström has shown eye-catching creativity and productivity with a large number of his own albums released with e.g. Gerald Cleaver, Palle Danielsson and Bobo Stenson. He has also appeared with names such as Brandon Seabrook, Loke Risberg and Sandra Hempel. Fredrik previously released in 2024 the big band album “Big Band Stories” and the duo EP “Going Home” with bassist Ilaria Capalbo.
