Roots tour
Dominique Fils-Aimé is the two-time JUNO award-winning singer-songwriter from Montreal who puts the history of African American music culture at the center and reflects on the historical, social conditions behind blues, jazz and soul.
With a strong, wistful, deeply moving voice, Fils-Aimé confronts historical silences and sorrows in a way that brings to mind Nina Simone and Billie Holiday.
Dominique Fils-Aimé was born and raised in Montreal with parents who immigrated from Haiti. Her first full-length album, the bluesy Nameless from 2018, has become a reference recording for audiophiles worldwide and led to two sold-out performances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2018. The follow-up, Stay Tuned!, earned her the Félix Award in the “Best Jazz Album” category. In 2021, she completed the final chapter of her album trilogy with Three Little Words. The album received rave reviews and ended up on the Polaris Short List.
After exploring her African-American musical influences, she now invites a more soulfully personal dive. Three years ago she was here during the Stockholm jazz festival. Now this rising star of vocal jazz comes to jazz club Fasching together with her quartet.
