Soyuz

SOYUZ is the creative collective from Minsk consisting of composer and singer Alex Chumak, drummer Anton Nemahai and one of the key figures of the Belarusian underground scene multi-instrumentalist Mikita Arlou.

Where SOYUZ previously explored the heritage of jazz-influenced non-English-language pop music, on their third album “Force of the Wind” the group has more influences from 70’s Música Popular Brasileira with bridges to pop.

“Force of the Wind” contains all the beauty and opulence found in the classic Brazilian recordings of artists such as Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges, Burnier and Cartier and Arthur Verocai. On the record, guests include Fasching-familiar Brazilian singer and guitarist Sessa.

Alex Chumak notes that from the moment he first encountered Brazilian music, he found in it a kind of concentrated feeling that he recognized from childhood.

Now Chumak and his creative collective come to jazz club Fasching with their Brazilian but own, vintage but contemporary, acoustic and electro-acoustic ethereal sound.
